“MUST HAVE Groceries on VACA”

Listen up traveling friends! If you’re like Sean and I, and spend your vacations in Airbnb’s or VRBO’s, you probably also enjoy cooking some of your own meals while traveling. It’s a matter of both not breaking the bank, and also getting a chance to try my hand at the local ingredients- one of my FAVE things to do!

I wanted to give you MY list of staples I ABSOLUTELY will find, or substitute, on my first trip to the market at my travel destination. REMEMBER to take your empty backpack to use as your grocery bag!

  1. Herbed/Salted butter
  1. Large loaf wheat bread
  1. 6 pack eggs
  1. 3 good slicing tomatoes
  1. Large block of cheese
  1. Box of assorted crackers
  1. ½ lb of sliced ham/salami/etc
  1. 1 package of spinach

If you look closely at this list, you’ll see there are multiple meals- breakfast, lunch AND dinner, you could make from this small grocery run. French toast? Grilled cheese sandwiches? Even a spinach salad with hardboiled egg and homemade croutons? WHAT?

I love having these ingredients for a quick snack, or even if Sean and I need to pack a last minute sandwich for a long bus ride! This list won’t break YOUR bank and I promise you won’t be throwing anything away!
